Learning

Condescension and condensation
are two kinds of cons.
And, of course, there is consecration,
even contempt:
many cons you must work your way through.

There are also pros: professors, procrastinators,
professional agitators
and propaganda:
each and every a signature of lives.

What is good and what is bad is of your choosing.

And how would you know
except to learn from experience:
episodes of winning
and, of course, losses leading to regret?

It’s a “No Win” game, learning is,
but you get to know
in the noisy business of choices:
always loss or win.

I suppose it’s an education
and so may be taught.
After all, that’s what schools are for
and, even, I suppose, most “preachers.”

But, if you yourself are a “reacher,”
you know that time
itself is the primary teacher.
You must just tune in.

To succeed is not always to win.
There are times when it’s better to lose.
So, be smart. Don’t whine.
Defeats are a test of your strength,
better still, your will.
