Life
What would we have done with the hours
without birds and flowers,
spring rain
and summer showers,
or breezes and tree-bending winds;
respectably eroded towers,
compromising kin,
and everyday dreams and visions;
the premises on which we stand;
assumptions made,
hopes unfulfilled, broken promises;
even so, regrets
for belatedly recognized mistakes;
enemies and hate:
but still give thanks for our lives:
the joys
we would never have missed
had we never lived?
It’s weird. Go figure!
