The Things One Sees

Baby bird fallen from its nest.
its eyes not open,
but its mouth most assuredly is.

Does not yet have feathers, cannot fly.
Was terribly foolish to try.
Probably fallen.

What am I to do with this chick?
Cannot put it back.
See nowhere a nest.

But it is my grass.
My own mouth could never be this open.
Is this a useful fact?
