Architect

A poet is an architect of words,
making beats and sound fit together,

slide off the tongue
such that sounds make sense

and are also pleasant to the ear
as a song that’s sung;

accurate in description,
to remembrance true,

reflecting human experience:
what humans do…

which is a clue
to what all humans treasure:

the memories of life,
remembered pleasures.
