Hate II

Hate is the human toxin that leads to war,
slavery, and the tyranny of class.
The active ingredient is fear.

Fear, too, is a form of pride.

If a horse, you would not want to ride it.
What it eats is money,
a foodstuff referred to as “hay.”

Don’t you hear the neighs?

Pride’s home is a comfortable stable
where it drops its dung
to be honored in water wet gardens.

Sex, too, is a public option.

Confession has the same regard,
but must be put forward with a smile.
And also a measure of guile.

Teeth prominent in skin-deep smiles
are of hard-baked tiles,
hence do not
and will never need brushing.

Foul breath is the unadvertised product.

Given all that’s not,
you don’t want to be kissing in private.
Love is not what’s sought.
