Taxes and Taxies

It is time, again, for tax returns.
It’s a form of torture
and is, surely, most inefficient.

Think of the hours wasted.
And to what end?
The taxes are already taken.

Just reduce the rate!

Personally, I would rather take a taxi,
It sounds the same
and feels the same in saying.

And taxis are not invisible.

A driver understands frustration,
so we can bond.
Surely not the IRS. They’re automatons.

Consequently, they have no children,
so feel no pain.

They’re invisible, a voice on the phone.
Do they even eat, take breaks
and otherwise act like humans.

How would we know?

It’s a disgrace
that the part of government that take our taxes
is unseen, maybe unseeable.

Maybe that’s why it has no pity.

Just think, a taxi driver is a human being
and does take money,
of course, for a service provided.

Why not IRS?  Why don’t they just figure our taxes.
That’s a service I would gladly pay for.
