Truth
Religious truth may not be fact,
unproven, undemonstrated,
but yet in granite cemented.
There are, of course, moral truths
that are treated as historically significant;
some that are known
for the moral benefit they’ve had.
But there’s little truth quoted these days.
What we prefer
is to provide the minimal cover
for what we do:
money, the common arbiter, is the cheapest liar,
but used by the greatest in power
to prove
they can do no wrong.
It’s the premise of the Nazis all over
(that Might makes Right)
that is shoved down our National throat.
It is also true that far too few care,
but in any case are
caught in a power vacuum.
Shiny America is no more
as our Leader gloats
over riches while the hungry die!
Oh Yes! There will be a comeuppance,
and it may come soon,
when America will forever become
a discarded hope.
“Trust in God,” you may say.
But why, for heaven’s sake,
should God even care,
since we knowingly choose to fail?
Once we had the dream,
but in the end didn’t care.
WE DIDN’T CARE!
Instead, we worshipped Money
and trusted in Armaments and Power;
and, as predicted, failed.
So God has every right to bail.
We have lost any right to His aid.
It’s the old human weakness, hubris,
and the love of money.
We don’t love people, not even Mother Earth
or our fellow creatures,
including plants
that for millennia have kept us alive.
Self-centered, self-worshipping humanity!
Once made from mud,
couldn’t lift their own thoughts above it,
so deserve to die.
But I’m deeply sorry for the earth:
and all non-human life
that we thoughtlessly raped and destroyed
in our self-righteous love of power
and avaricious drive.
