Fishing

Privileged, possessing the hours,
have you seen the nets
men employ
to catch conversation?

All words are fish.

Myself, I’m an angler,
Jayhawker,
I prefer cane poles,
the way the bobber goes under;

or to fish at night
with a lantern,
but that’s single fish
and crappies, especially, are bony.

If you’re serious, you go for trout
or drag for schools.
It takes more than one man
to haul in
a net that’s filled.
