Praying Mantis

            And so

does the praying

                        mantis move,

                                                swing

                                    stepping;

or darts like an arrow: lethal!

or gnaws like corn

the impaled corpse

of its victim

and weeps

like a true-born
                         believer

                        or so it should

                                    with great pen-i-ten-tial tears

                                                and proper airs

for the deeds

            (that to eat)

it does in between its prayers.
