Nebraska Cornfield
The mist is like manna descending.
It brings a blessing
that is spread overall as by hand.
Wild cranes have dropped in for their feeding
with their gentle landings
to gather nourishment they need;
rest awhile, then go,
continuing their flight to the tundra
where grasses grow
and dancing and breeding is done.
They have a job to accomplish.
There they raise their young.
