Purple and Full of Seeds

Most likely mulberry
though the berries on my neighbor's tree
are white;
the culprit a robin or starling.

I have yet to see
a catbird in this particular tree,
though they're in my yard,
friendly
and certainly loquacious.

An eye-witness, however, is missing.

There remains the stain
on a freshly laundered sheet.
Action was taken
but by whom
or what is the question.

What we have is a dark purple stain
that is full of seeds
and a need to rewash the sheet.

Not very pleasing.
