Self-reflection

If we are made in God's image,
too bad for God
and hurrah for Old Testament prophets.

If you're wanting hope,
man is not the place to look for it.
And who would vote
for a God
that was made in man’s image?

A man may hold God in his mind
and make sacred vows,
but could not say mankind is kind.

Or maybe someday man will change
as once did God,
who at first was plainly demonic;

then removing gloves
and loudly proclaiming his love,
God nailed his son to a cross.

A tragic loss. Much too much self-directed anger!

Why did God not pronounce man forgiven?
Wouldn't that be love?
Instead he shed innocent blood

so that now a debt has been laid
no man can ever repay.
