Summing Up
To be human is to be bi-polar,
all circles lapping over and over.
What I expect is always related to experience.
The real surprise
comes when what we reasonably expect,
is not what happens.
My “now” is always in the “past”
before I can even announce it,
before I have a chance to inspect it
and, what is more,
have no capacity to correct it.
Evil is a low grade of good
and what is kind
is of a kind with what is most cruel.
The friendly duel
is, perhaps, the deadliest of all.
As I came, I will likely go out:
pale, weak and tired.
What becomes of my earthly body
is not my care.
Like everything else, I can’t keep it.
If I have a soul, it’s a product of toil and pity.
When it comes to beauty,
we all are late born and sleep early.
