One-sided Conversation

Almighty God, giver of life and of suffering,
I give you praise,
though I'm not a true believer.

I do have questions.

I don’t understand your thinking.
If you are love,
what, then, is your need for justice?

And this man you made.
He is not just,
nor can he govern his lust.

Not a soul can trust him!

Whatever caused you to make him?
What sort of whim
led you
to stir up such trouble?

But do not despair!

This man your hands molded from mud
has prepared a plan,
not to make a new image of man,
but a better God.
