Ishmael

And what of Ishmael, the first born?
Has God no fingers?

Sent into the desert with his mother
when Isaac’s born,
into the desert alive and with little food.

And Abraham considered a model!
A suck-up man
who presented his wife to Pharaoh
as his sister.

Whom might God then curse as a sinner?
Instead, His curse
falls heavily on Hagar and sons.

Thus, continues an endless war,
as Israel continues its rape,
no one left to call God to account.

Perhaps the love of Jesus?
To make up for God’s own mistakes.
Even so, his death
and the creation of man in God’s image.
