Keeping the Inheritance

Yahweh, warrior God of the desert,
may his name be blessed,
made no claim beyond his I AM.

No other god could stand before him.

His chosen clan? Former slaves
brought forth out of Egypt,
who slew their way
through a land rich in chutzpah
and honey.

Keeping that land has been costly,
war after war after war.
Peace cannot even be imagined,
not any more,
not after millions of deaths.
