On Balance

Plato faced a philosophical dilemma,
and so decreed
a world beyond dawn unchanging.
the horse that’s painted on a wall
in the act of running,
as an image is perfectly static.

Plato never saw a movie
in which static images of a horse
on succeeding cells of a film
and displayed by a projector
may be seen to run
consistent with human experience.
