There is in Age a Comfort
There is in age a comfort.
What's done is done,
and what is not is becoming.
Old eyes review
and open to amazement.
So much is new
to see and new to do,
not much time left.
Gone are most of the have tos,
all don'ts ignored,
the cluttering of wills and won'ts
all swept aside.
Thoughts are still there to think,
and thanks to give,
perhaps a sly wink to a child,
a hug sometimes, maybe more:
a kiss or smile.
In the time that’s left,
only “loving” is what must be scored.
