Good Counsel

My focus is on light,
light the researcher.
Light breaks out white
from blackness
light’s all the colors.

By contrast, night,
the predominant destroyer of color,
keeps all facts hidden.
As light is given,
night simply disappears.
It runs and hides.

Yet, light originates in darkness.
We are said to learn
as we force ignorance aside
and so squeeze light
into cracks where mystery resides.
