Where?

If life is the process of dying,
death is the crown
we earn at the end without trying:

or is the last act we dare,
perhaps a prayer
pronounced, as it were, to the air.

All the same, it’s strange.

While death is the one thing we share,
we die alone,
as if to atone for the living.

The appropriate question for believers:
not if, but where.
