Conclusion

In the end, it’s trust,
(if we’re lucky)
that’s thrust upon us.

Face-to-face with loss,
and nothing to do about it;
we laugh,
as if nothing happened;

and so undone,
and accepting whatever may come,
we do something
nobody expects:

let the sun go down
and the moon proceed on its rounds
and enjoy
what’s left of our lives:

let the magic happen.
