Getting Ready

Getting ready for winter is not a one-day task.
Some fields are fat while others
are sparse to lean.

Shed to clean, tools to oil, blades to sharpen:
these we’ll keep to last.

Restraint is good.
At least, it seems good in the saying,
but just so long as that which needs doing gets done.

The days are growing shorter,
the nights grow long.
When morning comes, I'm up and in a hurry.

So don't be long!
Grab a doughnut and cup of coffee,
but c’mon! C’mon!
