Null Punkt

That ephemeral, elusive connection between “then” and “now”
that separates chaos from order,
elicits change
and, so, can never be repeated:
brake pad of time.

While perfectly greasing wheels locks out the past,
disallows correction
and abandons us simply to whims,
our unripe passions
tend to seed both crimes and regret;

facilitate change in direction,
forward to back,
clockwise and counter clockwise,
that tick of time
we’re too imperfect to measure,

but need to find
if we’re ever to control our lives.
Or perhaps give up and trust to the fates of this world
where we live in time
that proceeds with the force of a faucet.
