Roundness (Or The Fitting)
"No ass at all." That is my tailor speaking,
commenting on my personal failure.
He must explain.
"Roundness is truly a challenge.
Done well, it is fit to perfection.
Neither short nor tall,
roundness is not quite erect
and, of course, we sit.
We must take account of position.
If there's a flaw,
it has nothing to do with roundness,
but how cloth fits,
is cut to make compensation,
with care is stitched—
by hand is the preferable way—
to make smooth the seam.
When it comes to pants,
how the butt is cut makes a difference
in length and drape.
And, of course,
making room for the balls.
There must be room
for a sizable package to swing
without being noticed.
A tailor, you see, is moral or is meant to be.
My task: to see roundness clothed.
It's truly hard to fit a butt flat as a board,
but I'll do the best that I can."
You, by now, understand need
for a tailor who keeps pins and needles in his mouth
and, thus, is absolute in his commitment
to silence.
