Think of What You Do
We are living eternity here
in every instant:
in the shadow or glare, as we’re listening.
It is there, peeking over the lintel,
there on your pillow,
in your ear even as you dream.
It’s your fear or whatever you’re feeling,
be it joy or pain;
is the rain, is the wind, and leaves’ shaking.
It’s the shining of sun in the morning,
the moon at night,
and the pink of a dog’s tongue lolling.
It is you, even as you are in it,
all of you a part:
what you think, what you say, what you do.
Don’t run from it.
