Sandpaper, planes, and grinders,
each in their way,
bring out
what is cherished as beauty:

edge of knives.

Enhanced by the wearing down
from untried to facile
and from new to used
to become, via usage, loved;
tools convert pressure of clocks
into timeless beauty.

Passing beauty fades
under the pressure of time,
but muscles remembering use
understand how love
is even more enhanced
by the touch of others.
