Anger

Can anger turn into pity
in a child by a mother abused;
the mother herself
full of anger,
having been abused?

By what power
does a grown man give over
his own defense
when scarring so deeply imbedded
it remains as new?

Can anger resolve into pity,
hateful words withdraw
that once
were bitterly said,
when one of parties remains alive,
in the one-still-living’s head?
