The Man who found Love in the Sun

When I visited we sat together
in green lawn chairs.
The host for us both
was the sun.

Our chairs faced east
in the morning,
west afternoons.
As soon as the noon sun was gone,
we moved to rooms.

He spoke for the most part
of his childhood;
I didn't speak
except to answer his questions.

It seemed enough,
the sun arbiter between us,
the sun's rays warm
and silence an explicit gift.

We were able to give to each other
a few short times together.
When it came to love,
sharing sun was the perfect example.
