Unwanted Child

Strived all his life for perfection,
praise he knew
would never come;

knew life as a cramp in his stomach
and preferred dogs
precisely because they were dumb.

Scorned those who preferred to know nothing,
but also those
who did something, but then only cry;

saw love as something you paid for
and faith less important
than lies.

All because he had never been wanted,
could not accept life as his own.

As if by a curse he was haunted,
and he was
and so, therefore, stayed stoned.
