Last Love Letter to America

Blues, indeed, are a comfort;
gin, bourbon, beer
address
the acids that destroy us:
to name a few: poverty, drugs, broken families,
lack of respect,
and rage, God help us, such rage.

Rage drives men down
and causes women to give up;
leaves even young children unguarded
to turn to drugs, easy money,
and, often, death.

Look at the harvests or war. Take a look at the wars and the lies:
Not just the deaths, but young men
turned into rapists and killers.
What did we win
beyond loss of all moral sense,
injustice spread.
Where does it stop?

America has lost all authority
except The Bomb.
Dishonesty and lies, ego and pride
have replaced any thought of honor.

So I say, Goodbye.
Goodbye to you, America.  You are dead to me.
No one else to carry forward that name.
It’s a fucking shame.
