Comeuppance

Can you respect those you don’t love? 
I believe that’s true;
or distrust those who don’t trust you? 
Surely a few! 

Is it possible to love your enemy?
There are so many!
And what about those you love?
Can they trust you?

This is more than a Christian world
full of sinful Christians;
but can a few of these Christians confess
they don’t love their neighbors,

never mind distrust “Christian” leaders
of this “Christian” country?
Do we ever pray 
for others whom we truly hate?

Or others whom we disrespect?
Perhaps it’s good 
that life itself is short
since we’re only human.

But, then, when we are dead,
is there comeuppance?
