Sometimes

Sometimes I think of Jesus and his meaning.
It is said he died for sins.
That seems absurd,
especially two-thousand years later. 

And there are those who insist on judgement

coming only after the requirement 

to confess our sins. 

None of this does it appear Jesus said.

Instead, it’s a lingering of Mosaic law.

Jesus said he came to proclaim 
the coming of God’s kingdom to earth,
a kingdom of healing and forgiving, 

as Jesus in his life exemplified. 
He spoke of God as a loving Father 
and all mankind as his children. 

What Jesus brought was a new life in Christ
lived in trust 
and the observance of forgiveness and healing
as Jesus taught.
