Education

 Listen!  There’s a lot to learn
in the early grades and
levels of higher education.

Most of which we eventually forget,
both because of aging
and the failure to put learning to use.

What remains, we hope is wisdom.  

Learning also requires experience,
so that what we know 
has undergone personal testing.  

Ignorance is a major excuse 
for stupid and avoidable mistakes, 
that and inattention.

But it’s also true:
who you are and what you do
depends both on your education 
and how you use it. 

Always there is choice, but you have to seek it.
Desire is the energy that calls
and so completes it.

If total commitment is lacking,
you can only fail.
