Peter

Impetuous Peter was a man
of surprising strengths
and weakness

who tended always to act
before he thought,
then afterward would rue it.

He did not lack will,
but was careless in its use,
as are we all.

I do not cast blame.

In the end, he became a hero,
is now acclaimed
the greatest of Apostles:

a blemished man
who in the end
died horribly for his beliefs,
still faithful to his Lord
at the last.

For both we grieve.
