Perspective II
Our earth moves about its sun.
There is only one.
Each circuit defines on year.
Our earth itself is spinning.
A full turn is called one day.
Each day lasts twenty-four hours.
Each hour lasts sixty minutes
and a minute lasts sixty seconds.
We call this time.
But to us it seems the sun is moving
always east to west
and it’s time we understand that’s passing.
It is wind that moves.
But we on the earth are in transit
in both time and space.
That is the meaning of age:
what we call existence,
and casually refer to as life
that is not for us so casual,
having both a beginning and end.
To understand is what we call wisdom.
All this we can accept or reject,
but it makes no difference.
There may be--or may not--a tomorrow.
There is happiness. There is also sorrow.
There is both pleasure and pain.
Existence is not a matter for indifference.
And difference is the glory of life
or it is life’s bane.
But life is never the same.
Life is always changing.
You may accept it or you may rebel.
The choice is simply heaven or hell.
