Listening

Some voices work inside sound barriers, 
some voices out.
If you choose to seriously listen,
some words you’ll know,
others you will have to look up.

Inner voices need concentration,
even dedication
to know which voice is meant for you.
And you must wait 
as you listen with mind, heart and soul.

It requires patience.

At times it may be unclear, even after years, 
the source you are listening to, 
but don’t let that stop you from trying.
I consider gifts 
the messages I receive. 

I’m no longer shy 
and am exceedingly grateful. 
I have learned so much, 
just knowing 
how to wait and listen. 

It’s trite but true: 
messages just come through whenever:  
at night, first thing in the morning,
late afternoons.
Why? I’m unable to say.

What I know is this:
the hearing is up to you.
You control the game.
The only rule of the game is to listen. 
It is up to you.
