Loving God

I think you cannot love God
without loving life,
loving this creation that as such
includes yourself
and all your biological connections:

blood vessels, for example,
such specific contents:
as blood cells, red and white,
serum and antibodies,
each with a role.

In yourself, you encompass many worlds,
none of your making;
their responsibility to you
not allowed to rest
until death, when it comes, shuts you down;

in itself may offer relief
to experienced pain
in body, psyche, or brain;
but then when pain,
like a wildfire is uncontained:

death is at that moment a gift
wiping out all pain:
even the memory of pain:
no brain, no memory,
no pain.
