Disappointment, Judgment & Guilt
Disappointment is a fact of life,
but it needn’t be.
Sometimes disappointment is wrong.
We upset ourselves,
then find later on we were right.
Judgment is a slippery thing
when imposed on others,
more slippery when imposed on ourselves.
Guilt can be a crime of religion:
we convict ourselves
if not in the real world, then private.
But guilt itself
has never in the span of its existence
shown a hint of self-inflated hate
or even a charge
of self-restriction,
that leads from a stint of self-abuse
to confessed conviction.
But it’s all same. Nothing is left here to quibble.
It’s a lose-lose game.
