Rain,
a blessed August event
smacking pollen down
and wiping yellow surfaces clean;
making air less humid,
bringing air that we’re happy to breathe:
so cool and moist.
In exuberance, we offer up thanks,
for our sense of new life and health,
even refreshed purpose.
So breathe air in and give thanks
when rain clouds come,
giving respite, as they do,
from a giving sun
that we dearly love,
but sometimes need space and freedom
to clear out lungs
and breathe deeply the oxygen of grace
any time it comes.
