Dryer Fuzz
Dryer fuzz is what clothing casts off,
an unnoticed product of wear
leaving
T-shirts and underwear thin:
an indication of cost
that godliness exacts at our hands:
a hidden and avoidable loss
that use
of a dryer demands.
Through a scope anyone can see barbs
that hold hand held cotton in place,
a cling that washing
disturbs
and drying transforms into waste.
Because not all adherence is lost,
the evidence is easily picked off
the dryer’s
warm air-sifting screen:
a cloth made of two types of soft,
brought about by the devilish trick
that thins
what’s worn closest in winter
when what is most needed
is thick.
