Eagle

The eagle is a hunter,
eyes sharp as needles.

Its talons are slicers and skewers.
They are not gentle.

The beak is razor-sharp,
cutting bone from muscle.

It hunts its prey on wings,
rides backs of thermals,

It turns is ever widening circles,
a game it plays
until it's a speck in the sky.

Its prey may now come out and play,
live another day.
