Judas
Amazing the pain love can cause.
I do not reproach him.
More than once I had tried to stop him.
It did no good.
He took pleasure in provoking
the scribes.
Still, I tried to keep him alive,
but he got too bold,
rode proclaimed a king through the town.
It was grand charade.
In the Garden, he was just plain afraid.
He had been betrayed,
but not by me, as you think.
I loved him.
It was God who wanted him dead.
