Joy
Joy is a grizzly with a salmon,
a horse set free
to run with the wind
on a plain;
a thirsty plant
soaked in a downpour
of rain;
a tapped out man
who finds himself
handed a fortune;
or a child not spanked
for crying
because of pain.
Joy is a gift
given freely to any that live
and are left
simply able to be:
both the undammed stream
and the beaver
zealous to build one.
