Flower
Its importance lies not in the petals,
but in its throat
where reside both pollen and nectar,
the prize of bees
that wallow like hogs in a mire.
Pollen makes me sneeze
until my tissues are sodden,
while what I see
is not what to bees is important:
landscapes that breathe
in-and-out a beautiful fragrance
not meant for eyes,
having has little to do with procreation
beyond attraction,
but a lot, I am thinking, with joy.
